Is there any rationale behind r*pe?
The more I shun
myself from thinking about the distressing events happening around me, the more
I become guilty. This write up (outpour) is a reflection of the clashing questions,
thoughts that linger in my mind.
Is there
any rationale behind r*pe?
Of course
not, no crime is just.
I have
always thought r*pe is due to uncontrollable lust, an exploitation of helpless
people. More than exhibiting power and
displaying violence it feels there is more misogyny and
desire to control.
why will a man r*pe? What eggs him for such an act of violence? Is he aware of the repercussions? Or does he even know it is violence and unacceptable?
The following are my propositions:
1. π Because
he/they is/are able to do it and get away?
2. π People in power and position exploiting the vulnerable?
3. πPatriarchal mindset. Hostility towards women?
4. πThe claim that men cannot control/resist the urge?
5. πIrrespective the victim will be blamed and perpetrator will be applauded?
7. πSome men aren’t educated/taught how to conceal animal instinct?
8. πPerpetrator believes the victim deserves it. Or that is the little success he/they can have in life?
9. πGiven the circumstances, when s*x is unavailable, r*pe is chosen? Do they/he think the victim enjoys it?
πIn India unlike other countries, it is not treated as heinous crime?
How in the
universe this can possibly happen? I don’t
see why?
All the
above written ones aren’t convincing me enough to understand why such a spine
chilling and horrendous things happen to some one like me?
Rape is one
thing, murder is another. Both are gruesome and unimaginable. Women are believed
to be easy, available targets (including children). However aware, vigilant the
society and law becomes, unless there is a seed of civic, moral thought
embedded in the minds of potential perpetrators,
there will be no end card to this.
